Brother and sister, Nicos and Aliki Vouris from former dance group JC Culture now called Magnetik, reside on the slopes of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. Nicos and Aliki have have been performing and creating cutting edge dance music for the past 8 years. Although being fast paced Euro/Dance in Genre, they manage to bring a positive message of Jesus Christ within this contemporary medium.
Within the past 3 years, Magnetik have performed to audiences in Holland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. They have been invited twice to Hollands biggest music festivals, The Flevo Totaal Festival aswell as the Dance Music Festival in Rotterdam. At these festivals they performed alongside, Delirious, Michael W. Smith, Six Pence none the Richer, Audio Adrenalin and Raze. In Australia and New Zealand Magnetik performed at the Toowomba Music Festival and the Parachute Festival alongside bands such as All Star United. Delirious, The Paul Coleman Trio (PC3) and breakbeat maestro Dr Onionskin.
The new Magnetik album "Mezmerize" is sure to blow your mind. The new Cd boasts 10 original Pop/Dance/trance styled songs, which are sure to get you singing and moving your feet. These tracks include "Broken", "Happiness", "So Real" and " Mesmerized". The new album’s subtitle is "Mesmerize". A pop/dance remix of a very famous Depeche Mode song, "Enjoy The Silence" was also created by Nicos, performed by Aliki and collaborated with famous South African Radio Personality/deejay, Timmy T. This pop/dance remix is obviously a faster and more contemporary dance mix of the famous original.
Nicos & Aliki have also collaborated with top U.K and South African club deejays on 3 of the songs. Two of the tracks are extended trance/house mixes while the 3rd track reflects a more funky house feel. These tracks were especially made for the clubbers market. These songs are "Tell Me", "Heaven is Near"and "Dance with Me". The collaborations were with Internationally renown Deejays Tobie Allen and Phil Good.
After an emotional event which took place in Nov of 2000 in Holland, the entire album was dedicated to a loving teenage fan, Jiska Nagtegaal who died in November 2000. Nicos & Aliki were invited by the organization "Doe Een Wens" (Reach for a Dream) to perform in Holland for their biggest fan’s farewell party. It was such an inspiration to see the amount of love and faith in Jesus Christ that Jiska portrayed even up and until her heartfelt moment arrived. It was an honour for Nicos & Aliki to be part of this emotional and most memorable event.
The "Mesmerize" album was Recorded, Arranged, Engineered, Mixed & Produced by Nicos Vouris in the Magnetik Studio, Cape Town, South Africa and will be distributed to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the U.S.A.
In conclusion all that can be said is "Look out for MAGNETIK in 2003".
