Five young men from three different ethnic backgrounds, and different parts of the country, make up the Private Boiz.

The Private Boiz are: Johnny Jam, Mello Mel, DJ Double "K", Sho-Bizz and Sweet "E". "Check da Flava", the title of their N•Soul Records debut release, refers to Psalm 34:8: "taste and see that the Lord is good." The Private Boiz and Aaron De La Cruz co-produced outstanding mixes, including the sounds of new jack swing and hip hop, to back up first class rapping.

Almost a decade ago, Johnny Jam and Mello Mel began rapping in Riverside, California area churches under the name "Master Plan." The addition of DJ Double "K" spinning and scratching filled one missing element for the group. But they still lacked substance when it came to live shows. Dancers sho-bizz and Sweet 'E' from 'Mobile Posse' were added to the group three years ago completing the current Private Boiz line-up.

N-Soul Records discovered the group during a performance at a southern California dance club called "The Flipside." The result was a recording contract and their debut album. "We try to reach people where they are, by talking about real life experiences," said Sho-Bizz . "The Jam sums up the Private Boiz message in this way.
